Home Visits

Treatment at home is available for people who have transportation problems, difficulty traveling or just prefer the convenience of being seen in their own homes. Home treatment is often preferred.  Some forms of portable electrical modalities can be used in home settings. Sophisticated hands-on techniques such as joint and tissue mobilization, myofascial release, massage and muscle energy techniques can be performed at home as well as screenings and most evaluations.

Ms. Nogee is experienced in advising how to adapt homes for each person’s particular needs and has wide knowledge of assistive devices and portable equipment available to make daily activities easier, if that is necessary. Household members or aides can also be trained to assist with patient’s therapy to facilitate recovery and keep therapist visits and costs down. Appointments are made based on mutually convenient time slots.

Home visits are available in Nassau County, Western Suffolk County, Eastern Queens and Middle to Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Office Visits

Limited office visits are available in a home office which allows for use of more electromedical and exercise equipment including high and low volt stimulation, TENS, MENS, ultrasound, acupuncture point stimulation and more. Treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical and rowing machine are available in the office as well as therapeutic balls, free weights, resistance bands.

Evaluation procedures include Manual Muscle testing, Range of Motion measurements, Fall Risk Assessments, Scoliosis screenings and evaluations, and Neurodevelopmental evaluations.

Most Schroth therapy sessions are done in office. Treatment sessions are scheduled on an individual basis.

There are no walk-in appointments.

Office treatments are only available in East Meadow, New York.

Best Practice Schroth Therapy for Conservative Treatment of Scoliosis

Schroth Best Practice™ should only be taught by practitioners certified in the Schroth Best Practice™ method. Freda Nogee is one of the few people with this certification in this area.

Ms. Nogee offers 6 Schroth programs. There are 3 for adolescents depending on the severity of the curves and 3 for adults. Each program is designed specifically for each patient and for each patient’s individual curve or curves.

Schroth is a protocol of scoliosis specific exercises that uses asymmetrical or corrective rotational breathing techniques designed specifically for each curve pattern.

The goals of a Schroth program are many and include teaching the ability to balance and stabilize the spine, halt curve progression, reduce curves when possible, relieve pain and increase chest expansion and vital capacity. Cosmetic appearance and psychological well being are also factors that are highly considered and can be positively affected.

Schroth Best Practice™ works to educate the patient and family and to teach and EMPOWER patients to self-correct to the best of their ability.

Schroth treatment for scoliosis is performed on a one to one basis and it has been found that results are more effective if learning takes place in a condensed time frame. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that the course be completed within 1 to 4 weeks. Each session may be several hours long. Clients leave with a complete manual for their program as developed throughout the sessions that contains written instructions, pictures and videos for reference.
